چکیده

Bacterial two-component signal transduction systems (TCSs) play a pivotal role in environmental adaptation. In this minireview, two TCSs in Escherichia coli are clarified: the PhoP/PhoQ system, which senses extracellular Mg and controls the expression of the genes for adaptation to environmental Mg deprivation (Mg regulon); and EvgA/EvgS, a signal transduction system that activates expression of the drug efflux pump genes. Furthermore, based on the inhibition of YycF/YycG signal transduction in Bacillus subtilis, a novel strategy for developing a new class of antibacterial agents is described.

JAK-STAT pathway and JAK inhibitors: a primer for dermatologists

Background: All cellular events depend upon the DNA synthesis and gene expression involving complex interplay between ligands such as interleukins and interferons, with various cell membrane receptors. These ligand-receptors interactions transmit signals within the cell via numerous signal transduction pathways to affect gene expression. Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcrip...

Bacterial histidine kinase as signal sensor and transducer.

Adaptation to an environmental stress is essential for cell survival in all organisms, from E. coli to human. To respond to changes in their surroundings, bacteria utilize two-component systems (TCSs), also known as histidyl-aspartyl phosphorelay (HAP) systems that consist of a histidine kinase (HK) sensor and a cognate response regulator (RR). While mammals developed complex signaling systems ...

انتقال ژن‌های OF2 و VAP به چغندر قند با کمک آگروباکتریوم ریزوژنز برای بررسی مقاومت به نماتد

OF2 and VAP genes, probably involved in signal transduction of sugarbeet nematode resistance, have already been cloned in bacterial vector by AFLP molecular marker and a two-hybrid system, respectively. To examine their capability to introduce resistance in sugarbeet, the genes were transferred to plant expression vectors. For this reason, OF2 gene after isolation was inserted within T-DNA of p...

Adaptation to environmental stimuli within the host: two-component signal transduction systems of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Pathogenic microorganisms encounter a variety of environmental stresses following infection of their respective hosts. Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the etiological agent of tuberculosis, is an unusual bacterial pathogen in that it is able to establish lifelong infections in individuals within granulomatous lesions that are formed following a productive immune response. Adaptation to this highly ...
